Rechamber Stevens Favorite?
My stupid question is, has anyone ever re-chambered a worn-out chambered .22 Stevens Favorite to .22 Win. Mag. and lived to talk about it? I realize that the pressures between an original black powder .22 long rifle load and a .22 win. mag. are greatly different, and that metalurgy between 1894 cast iron and modern steel now is incredibly better, but I can't find any specifications in my books for rim-fire pressures. I have to ask, having seen a write-up about the new .17 Hornady Magnum in a comparison test including a new-made Favorite, and having a clapped-out chambered but otherwise tight lock-up action Favorite in my gun locker. Thanks in advance, DaveF.

if you brought the stevens in to my shop and said here is the $$, make this into a .22 mag. i would show you the door. much better idea is to reline the barrel back to .22 l.r. (standard velocity only). the stevens is a good action but why take the chance. 0 -
