guns, of course :-)
Dear Fellow Gun Enthusiasts:
I recently purchased a bunch of guns at an estate sale and now I need to find their approx value and repair parts if available.
1. Stevens model 75 .22...missing both sights, the springloaded tube that loads the rounds and the bolt. The butt stock is broken.
2. Stevens model 15 bolt action .22....missing bolt.
3. Stevens model 15A B. A. .22....bolt doesn't lock the firing pin.
4. Western Field (Browning Patent) 16ga Pump...checkered butt stock is broken.
5. 12ga "Long Tom" single shot. Both stocks broken. Who makes this gun?
6. Italian made bolt action rifle...unknown type, model or name of this gun...very small calibre (6mm?)...split in bolt at receiver end.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ivan

Vulcan - Don't mean to pee on your parade, but it sounds like you have about $25 worth of parts there. All I can say is check with Gun Parts Corp at www.e-gunparts.com - These are all low dollar guns and you don't see alot of parts for them.
I think maybe the Stevens 75 is the same reciever as Savage 29 (.22 pump, right ?) You might have better luck finding parts for it this way.
Good luck ...0 -
The italian gun could be a Carcano. Worth $50 to $200 depending on model, maker, date, and condition.

Tazmutt is correct about checking with Gun Parts Inc....Check with them about SELLING those guns to them and not buying repair parts from them. Vulcan my friend I HOPE that you did not max out your VISA card when you bought these guns because you probably won't see much money when you sell them! Just a replacement bolt for the Steven's 15 is going to run around $50 and the rifle as described is not really worth that much. As mentioned these are lower priced utility grade firearms of no collector interest. They are valued only for shooting and none of your new collection will shoot. Jonk is correct that the Italian rifle, if identified could have some value.
I've gone to hundreds of auctions and seen these types of lots described as everything from "Bonanza lot" to "begining collector". Most times the hammer price is $25 to $50 and the guns go for parts or are simply kept around until the next auction and then move onto the next buyer. The auctioneer makes money each time they sell so he's happy to see them come back through his shop. I reccomend you hang onto the Italian rifle until it is identified and cast adrift the remainder of you collection.

I agree, I'd contact numrich about selling them as parts to them, none of them are collectors guns, all of them are broke. They aren't going to be worth trying to fix up to operable condition. Frankly, sounds like you purchased a gunsmiths junk/scrap pile.
Another vendor here who buys guns like that is Doc's Guns, he previously had a post in the wanting to buy adds looking for any parts guns, he might offer you a small fraction more than numrich.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

I thank each and every one of you fellers for your help and guidance. I am truly thankful I did not spend a whole pocket full of money on these rejects...just half-a-pocket.

Vulcan,
Gun parts will pay you close to nothing. All responders had
good advice. I suggest you advertise on GB. Someone is always looking for parts. My .020 -
All the advise is good, but let me relate a personal experience ... About 10 years ago, at an auction I picked up 3 old .22's to the tune of about $280, all were more or less complete, a few missing screws ect, very rough. After deciding I didn't want to mess with them to make them shooters, I took them to a few gunshows ... to make a long story short, the best offer for the best gun was $35 . So I got to thinking, who were the people that were bidding on them ... it finally occurred to me, they were antique dealers! I ended up selling all 3 to an antique dealer, he made a couple of ridiculous offers ($75 for all at first, then $150), I told him to get real if he wanted them, then he jumped his price to $300 and we setteled at $350 for all 3 I went back a couple weeks later and he said they sold for $225+ EACH ... they were worth more as wall hangers than as guns! I still see him at gun shows looking for cheap old guns with character ...

The guy you bought them from - was he ..... like stoopid??
It sounds like he might have given the animals a good whack with the buttstock, instead of shoot the rifles.
But sell them for spareparts or coathangers...

Is the Stevens 15 a "self-cocking" bolt or one you have to mannually pull the cocker back ? I have and old Springfield single shot that has to be cocked this way. Anyone ?
Also Vulcan - I would be interested in the Stevens 75, as a parts gun, if you would like to get rid of it. Have no idea what you have into it or the overall condition of the gun. Let me know what you need to get for it if you'd like ...
hmmmmmmmm ... can I do that in here ?0 -
You might want to sell them here on GB. I have auctioned a few "parts" guns here. Make sure you describe them well and have good pictures. Then the buyers will not be disappointed with the purchase. None of my buyers were. Just a suggestion.
