(Buckmaster-Monark). Anyone have or hear of any experience with the new generation Nikon scopes that are made in the Philippines ? They are reasonably priced but I wonder the quality of wokmanship.

Nikon makes great stuff. Poor service is not typical with them either, but repairs are always subject to lapses in a country where people are ashamed to work with their hands.

I never owened a nikon scope so I cant offer my wisdom on there scopes, But have owened several sets of zoom binoculars by nikon.
I sent them a pair of zoom binoculars ( 15 years old ) once to get re-aligned, They had double vision, you would see two of an object. They sent me a bill in the mail for labor and return shipping costs totaling 18.00 , When the binoculars returned in the mail, Instead of fixing my old pair they sent me a brand new pair of zoom binoculars of there current version of what I sent in. Needless to say I was very happy with the service on that deal. It was only a short turn around time too.

Nikon is a great scope, particularly their Monarch UCC series. I'm not really impressed with their "Buckmaster" line, but really like the top end models. I have a Monarch 2x7x32mm matte just waiting for the right rifle.( or the right amount of money) That scope is outstanding for such a compact size. This is the second Nikon monarch that I've owned and I would recommend them without reservations.

I have a monarch. It had fuzzy crosshairs. I bought it in the US. Nikon Canada wouldn't service it. NIKON USA wouldn't accept it for repair beacuse they wouldn't return it to me in Canada
I have said it before and I'll say it again. NIKON service SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This happens with all Nikon products, cameras, binoc's lenses.
I avoid Nikon like the plague now. I like my Leupold's but I am very impressed with a Bushnell Elite 3200 that I recently bought(for the price)

Leupold still makes a 4x scope, as well as Burris. Burris also makes a compact 4x. You might also want to check out the new Weavers. Personally, I like the Burris scopes, consider them one of the best buys for the dollars spent.

The Monarch is a very fine scope. My top choice is Burris.

Have a Buckmaster on a rifle I aquired used.
Liked it so well I thought I'd try a Monarch model.
Seems to me like the Buckmaster is clearer.
