Colt Diamondback 22
I looked in the auction section and saw them anywhere from $450 to $1000 asking prices. I found one locally for $550 and it's a 4" Blue in the box. Which side of the scale does this one lean towards?

I am looking for as much info on a colt diamondback 22 6" nickle finish I just picked up, The serial # is P55XXX, The only info I can find says the numbers start with a D not a P. If I could get some info on what year production, What it is worth and anything else would be greatly appreciated. Also what would be the best book for Info on this gun. 0 -
Burst my bubble, and the sellers too!
I went to see the gun at noon, it was in the box, but it had Pachy's on it. I asked about the original grips and he pulled out a set of Colt 1/2 checkered grips with faded medallions and some nicks on the wood. The guns was described as easy %95 more like %98 in the box. Again, the gun was in the box, but it was no %95-%98 percent. To me that means maybe some minimal muzzle wear and maybe a nick or two on the wood.
This gun had about 1/2" or more of muzzle wear on both sides, the trigger guard was white on both sides, small pits on the crane and the wood grips had more than a few nicks in them. The gun was not even cleaned from the last time he shot it. It was full of powder residue from shooting shorts or CB's. I still had an interest in the gun and offered a solid $450 which he denied. He said he would take $450 for the used Blue Mini-14 he had for sale. I mentioned that they were $429 new just down the road and no thanks.
He asked if I had anything to trade, I mentioned a rifle I might trade and he said he would trade even for the Mini-14 (remember he valued at $450) I said no to that, but offered my rifle and $100 diff ($450 + $100=$550??) towards the Diamondback and he denied. Go figure?
I guess it was not meant to be!0
