I have both and like them both about the same. The only advantage I can think of is Beretta 1-magazines can be found used and there are after market mags available. 2- ambidextrious safety H&K USP 1-multiple safety configurations available. Other than that, I would try them both and pick the one that fits best.

I have an HK USP in .45 and dearly love it, and have owned a Beretta 96 in .40 cal that was a nice pistol. I sold the Beretta to buy a Springfield XD-40. What a great little pistol. I now use it as one of my primary concealed carry pieces. It is a little smaller than the Beretta, and easier to conceal than the HK. Others may disagree, but for the cost, the XD shoots well, and is very accurate. Good luck with your search.

    Own both HK & Beretta in .40 & .357sig, total of 4.
For carry I like the Beretta's they are lighter & a bit smaller.
    Wife likes the .40's , I like the 357 sig's.
HK a little too heavy & bigger, if you carry the HK around for a week, you will go to the Beretta. You wont walk tilted as much.
    Both are excellent pieces.

I don't have an input on the HK and the only input I have on the Beretta is I've shot the 9mm(while in the military). I have the Ruger P-94 in .40 Bulky, heavy but a really good gun. I also have the Glock 23 It's small light and I love it, I got the gun and night sights for $525. Just my input on two guns you probably aren't interested in.
