Help with Savage Mod 24 O/U
Try this question over here. Have a Savage O/U Mod 24 in 22/410. What is supposed to be the bbl length? These measure 24" but look like they have been cut. What you think El Capitan?

suggest go to savagearms.com, contact them with exact model # (i.e. 24-a,b,c,d,e,f,g, etc) some models had shorter barrels. they can also provide you with manual for your model. 0 -
This is an original 24, no letter suffix. Would that still be 24"?

Liktoshoot has it right. All M24s had 24" barrels except for the "C" suffix "Camper" guns, which were 20". Looks like an older gun; they had a pretty hefty chamfer on the rifle muzzle from the factory. Unless the muzzle looks like it has been re-blued, it is probably factory. Could be a re-crown, but they couldn't have taken much off.

My 24, also an older model but in 22/20, has a 24 inch barrel. Nice little guns. Much nicer than the new ones. Bought this one myself back in 1974 when I was 10. First gun I ever owned. Can you imagine a 10 year old marching up to a gun counter today and plopping down $99.99 for his own gun? HA! Not anymore! 0 -
Afternoon Mr. Pellycan; the answer is 24"..
Here's what the date base says about the SAVAGE Model 24 22-410 O/U Combination; Same as the STEVENS No. 22-410, has walnut stock and forearm. Made 1950 to 1965....Then along comes the STEVENS No. 22-410, Over/Under combination...Visable Hammer, Takedown. Single Trigger, 24" Barrels, shotgun barrel full choke. Open Rear Sight, Ramp Front Sight of the Sporting Rifle type. Plain pistol-grip stock and forearm: originally supplied with walnut stock and forearm. "Tenite" [plastic] was used in later production. Made 1938 to 1950. NOTE; This gun is now manufactured as the Savage Model 24....Best.....

I thought my 22/410 looked like it had been cut, too, but the front sight seems to be quite normal. 0 -

Glad your front sight is normal.
But I wonder if that nut behind the trigger might need a slight adjustment[?][:)][:o)][:)]0 -
Pel, some of these were issued as survival guns by the Air Force. I have one marked U.S.A.F. with a Tenite stock that came out of a B-29. The end of the .22 bbl looks like it was hacksawed off, reportedly to fit where it was stored. I still haven't been able to confirm that. 0
