Marlin 336 barrel Change
Is possible/reasonable to change the barrel on a marlin 336 in 30/30 for a new barrel in 38/55? Any thoughts on effectiveness of such a change and the cost? Bear

In my opinion, you would be better off to just buy or trade for a 38/55 rifle. The new rifle would probably be cheaper and better than a conversion.

try www.buffaloarms.com they offer the barrel swap you ask about, and the price is quite reasonable. i think its easier on older 336 marlins. get the phone number from the web sight and give them a call. i think that the cost of the barrel and an installation by a compatent gunsmith can be kept under $200.00 .

DCLKAL, I would suggest that you go to
www.marlinfirearms.com
Click on Marlin Talk. They have many Marlin experts at that site who can tell you anything you want to know about Marlin rifles.
