Allen Thurber & Company Pepperbox
I have a Allen/Thurber & Company pepperbox. It has flower type engraving on the frame and is in very good condition. It says Worcester so I assume it was made in Worcester, Mass. it has no serial number or other markings. Any idea about history or value?

According to the Blue Book, Allen & Thurber were located in Worcester, Mass from 1847-1854, giving you a time frame for your pistol. Prior to that they were in Norwich, Conn, and after that they were called Allen, Thuber & Co. They produced perhaps the widest variety of firearms of any U.S. firm. Being that old it should probably be seen by an antique gun expert. Value depends upon many factors such as how many were made and how common they still are, and most of all upon condition. In antiques particularly you need some one to look at the gun who truly understands the gradients of condition.
