off target with shots
I will prove here that there are indeed "stupid" questions but need some help.
If my shots fall slightly to the left of center, adjusting the front sight to the right, slightly, should correct the problem by moving my point of impact to the right?
Conversely, moving the rear site to the left [the opposite direction] will have the same effect?
Do I have this correct or reversed.
Serious but dumb question.
Thanks much in advance.

Hitting left move rear sight right
Hitting low move rear sight up

I would first make sure your trigger pull isn't just that, a pull. You need to have good placement of your trigger finger. That could also make your round go either to the right or left. 0 -
You have it reversed. Move the front sight toward the bullet hole. If you hit to the left and low, move the front sight to the left and lower. This will move the impact point up and to the right. Move the rear sight in the direction you want the impact point to move. In this case it would be to the right and up. 0 -

ginger: It is not a stupid question. I suspect that there are many more people confused by this than will admit it. What I've done to help me remember is to picture myself looking through the sights at the target(obviously this can be done literally at the range also), imagine moving the rear notch left or right until the front blade is no longer centered in the notch, and asking myself which direction I will have to move the muzzle in order to center the front sight in the notch again. This is the direction your point of impact will move on the target. 0 -
...and therefore the direction you must move your rear sight in order to shift the point of impact in that direction.
(Hope I didn't confuse you any more)0 -
SIMPLE>>>>>>>MOVE THE REAR SIGHT IN THE DIRECTION YOU WANT THE BULLET TO GO!!!!!!!!! MOVE THE FRONT SIGHT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.>>>>USE A FINGER ON EACH HAND WITH A TARGET, AIM AT THE HOLE IN TARGET, MOVE EIGHTER THE FRONT OR REAR FINGER, TO WHERE YOU WANT THE BULLET TO HIT!!, LINE UP YOUR EYE, THAT IS YOUR ANSWER. TRY IT!! 0 -
