I am looking at getting an O/U in about a year and decided to do some research now before i got it. I am curious in getting one of the three brands i listed in the subject, and was wondering if one specific brand was better than the other. I will be using the gun mainly for skeet and trap. Does anyone know of ANY differences in these brands as far as O/U shotguns go? Any information would be appriciated. thanks

The same difference between GM, Ford, and Chrysler. All have their strong points, all probably share much more than we know (technology, etc.), and all are different.

I'm really sorry that you aren't considering a Red Label, but that's a personal choice. Of the guns you're interested in there will be one that fits better than all the others. Forget what name happens to be on the gun and let your body decide.

I say this from personal experience in that I was sure that I wanted a Browning until I picked up a Red Label. Everything else seemed "clunky" after that, no matter how nice. You'll know when the gun is THE one. Don't get too hung up on the name.

    Enjoy shopping.

"Light" is good for skeet, bad for trap.
I am partial to Brownings, and the Rugers don't fit me like the Brownings.

If you going to have one custom made for you, get a beretta, its absolutely amazing what they can do.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

How they fit you and feel in your hands are the most important things to consider when buying a shotgun.
Personaly I like the Browning GTI, I found the comb on the Perartzi(SP?) to be to sharp, and the Red Label to have to much front end weight for my taste. The Beretta and the Lightning were close but not perfect for me. That being said, I know guys that prefer the Peratzi, and/or Red Label over the Beretta and Lightning but hate the feel of the GTI.
The upper level shotguns are all about equil in quality, it's simply a case of indivdual taste and how the gun fits you and your shooting style.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Mostly you are hearing the same things here. I ended up with an older Franci, because it fit perfectly. The fit is what counts not the name, and all that you mentioned and more are fine shotguns. Note that trap and skeet guns differ in what they need to do, and usually at least the rib will differ considerably, and often trap guns are bored to shoot high. Be too bad if you had to get two guns! Go to a shop that knows how to fit you and keep trying until you find one that feels like a part of you.

All the shotguns you mentioned are good guns. As stated before, the most important thing is the 'Fit' of the gun to your shoulder. Anyone at a good gunshop will help you find the right fitting shotgun.
