MODOC; I'm inclined to believe that you have a Belguim made shotgun, made in the 1880's to early 1900's...Sold thru hardware stores and mail Order House's...Some were fairly decent made arms and others just barely considered Safe to shoot...Hardly worth the expense of trying to restore it...Look under the Breechend of the barrels and see if there is an Oval with the letters E over LG in its center...If so thats the Belguim Export Proof Mark...If its not there, give us a complete and total discription of your gun along with all Marks and Numbers and where located...I'm sure that I or some of the other members will be able to help you out......Best....

No inclination needed... You'll find the "ELG" proof on the barrel flat and the gun is/was a utilitarian piece at best.

The piece is worthless as a gun, but will bring a bit as a wallhanger... Quite often $150.00 or so. Don't have it restored. In fact, do nothing to it. No matter how much you pour into the old piece there can be no certainty of safety should it be fired.
