It's not an old gun, I believe it was made in the late 1990's. Are you guys using the whole serial number 6386608?

    Thanks again.

Yep my sources say after 1983!
Also it says this is a stolen gun and the last time it was seen was in the back of a 41 Hudson, heading for NJ and there were a couple of Mafia types in the car!!!!

Boy I sure stirred the pot with this question once before. I asked for the date on an old model 70. Received a lot of dates. I question how good some of these sites are.

Too bad Jack.... Most people have reference guides, i.e.,
books. If within a year or so, your question has been answered.
The M-94, post 1964 is really not worth much, shooter value only.
Sorry about the quality of the site.

Airborne, don't misunderstand me. I'm not questioning the quality of this site. What I was refering to was accuracy of the sites that publish the production dates. While you are right about the within a year or two no big deal. This is true most of the time. In my case, it meant the difference of being a prewar or post war model, thus making a big difference in value of the gun. Please don't take offense, my comment was nothing against this site.

One thing about computers and web sites, they are only as good as the person who entered in all the information. Of course, who's to say that the books are correct too.

Contact Winchester and have them search the serial number and hopefully the person who enters the info into their database will get reliable info, assuming that the person who initially put the data into their database did it correctly....

Or are we back to the beginning again???
