The 32 Gauge does exist, but is no longer loaded in this Country. It still has a small following in Europe and is loaded by Fiocchi in a 2 1/2 inch version. Your gun's manufacturer is likely Harrington and Richardson, but I do not know what the other markings refer to, unless the gun has been modified by the second company for a special purpose. One could ascertain this by finding out to what the patent applied. Perhaps it fires tear gas projectiles. 0 -

Sounds like a Vet's dart gun to me. (anasethitc darts used to capture wild anamals)

This same question was asked some time ago and I believe Tailgunner got it right. I'm not sure the purpose was to fire tranquilizers, but I wouldn't bet against it either.
In any case a special purpose gun. A curio, but not collectible by the real definition since the frame is just an inexpensive utility piece.

Hello bluesteel4r
This is designed to be used by wildlife agents and vets to fire a dart that is drug filled to take an animal down without the harm that often done by trying to rope it - snare it - and so on.
The dart is fired with a blank shell behind it. There are various blank loads depending on how far away the "subject" animal is. You can blow a dart completely through an animal if you use the wrong blank cartridge and the animal is very close. I have seen it done.
Best Regards

I have a small collection of old shotgun cartridges and they are a few surprises.I wasnt aware H&R made a chambering for it.Fiochi does make ammo for it,the ones I have are loaded with shot.I would try to find out the value of the Gun.The right collector may pay a good price for it.I would like to come across one.
Best!!!

32 gauge guns may have had odd special purpose uses, but the ammo we have in the store is your average trap load. i think this gauge had a niche between 28 gauge an .410 once upon a time. you occasianly see a drilling with a 32 gauge barrel, and a trap and skeet gun comes along now and again. i think its just one of those rounds that is no longer in favor, or that was once popular in europe and never caught on here. if you need a box email me at waltsgun@aol.com
