Chief - There is only one series 38 special that there is a s/n in this range. That would make it a .38 Hand Ejector Military and Police model of 1905, Fourth Change. And more specifically, a target model. I can find no other model that has a s/n in the range of yours in 38 special.
The approxmiate date of manfacture would probably be in the range of 1919-1923. Value - the standara model runs from about $175-200 in 75-100&. Target models are worth about 50% more than standard as they are rarer. Again it would depend upon the collector. I acquired one of the standard variant in about 95% for about $275.
The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!

Thanks so much for your help. I'm glad to find this forum, I've had questions for some time and didn't know where to go or who to ask, Like I said above, I'm not a handgun person, having worked with long guns most of my life. I'm trying, at long last, to establish some kind of value to make my insurance man happy.
THANKS!!!
