I would say there very reliable, our Dept.switched from the Glock 22 ,40 Auto to the Sig P229 in .357 sig and I love it.I own a Sig SP2340 chambered for the .357 and I also like it very well.I dont think you would regret buying one.The Richmond VA.PD.carryies it as their main side arm in .357 and all of their Officers praise it.I like the interchandeable grips on it.If you have any trouble finding a Holster I had mine made by Kramer for less than $100.00

    Best!!

I have been very pleased with my Sig Pro 40 S&W. I have had no problems with it, and I think it is about the most accurate 40 S&W that I own. I have Glock, Browning HP, Colt, Star, HK,and S&W Sigma 40 S&W pistols. Magazines have been expensive, but Promag has started making them. I had trouble finding a holster when I first bought it, but Fobus is making one now.

I was initially looking at the sig pro 2340before my last purchase but thought the quality was a little lackluster. The sig 229 is awsome but I was unimpressed with the pro. I never fired one but heard the recoil sucked. Recoil was really a non issue to me but the frame was to pliable. The polymer didn't seem rigid enouph. I could twist the end of the frame between my thumb and forefinger. I opted for a new glock 22. It is extremely accurate and they are used by over 40% of the police dept. in the U.S. Accessories are readily available, they are reliable, safe and easy to maintain. It is absolutely the easiest weapon I have ever seen to field strip and clean. If you ever need extra parts they are readily available. If you want a sig buy a steel one, if you want a polymer weapon go with a Glock or maybe an HK.JMHO.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

To me the SigPro series is on par with the Glocks. It is a love it or hate it type gun. I think it is the most un-Siglike Sig ever made. Top heavy, poor balance and an extremely high bore axis come immediatlely to mind. The quality, reliablility and accuracy are what you would expect from a Sig though, excellent. But what the H, I'm not real fond of a Glock either.

I totally agree with 4GodandCountry. I shot the 2340 and found the recoil to be a bit sharp. I bought a 229 and I love it. This gun is fantastic. I've also shot a G22 and would say go with the 229.

For the most part, the only polymer gun with a long term track record is the Glock. The HKs are nice, but they just feel strange. I've never seen a Sig Pro up front, but I just can't see why anyone would bother if they could buy a traditional P series SIG.

I have a used Glock 23 in 40 and other than the addition of a Hogue Handall, it shoots like a champ just as issued. It's really good. However, I'm no fan of polymer guns and prefer the traditional SIG for a main carry/home defense gun.

I have both a P-229 and a Sp-2340. Both are good guns, but I prefer the 229. Not sure why, it just feels better to me.

    My 2 cents....

A cronie of mine has a sig pro 2340. I have shot it quite a few times. As far as being reliable the sig pro is very reliable and from my experiance did not have any problems whatsoever. I like the sig p229 better then the pro, The feel of the sig pro just dont work good for me.
However, I dont like the feel of the glocks either. If I really were to buy a gun with a polymer frame it would be a HK usp expert.

If you are hooked on a sig sauer pistol, I'd reccomend the sig p229, I just love this one, Extremley reliable, Very accurate, And a breeze to disassemble to clean.

Dont overlook Smith & Wesson's model 5906 and 4006, These are a very good quality gun too. I would not reccomend the shorter versions such as the 6906, 4013, 4513, and 5913, These models seem to be fussy and like to be very clean, to be reliable.

I love Glocks and I love Sigs. The sig is a darn fine firearm, don't worry about anything with it, its a perfect duty capable handgun. Its probably more accurate out the box than a otb glock. But a glock does have less parts, meaning less to replace and mess up.

But if you want a Sig Pro, don't even hesitate in buying one, all you need to worry about is where to buy it from... Just my opinion.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
