Need reloading data for .38 Spcl "multi-ball" load
Just like it says, I was wondering if anyone had any experiance loading .38Spcl. with 000 Buck. Can it be done? or is the charge needed use up too much space to load two 000 balls? How about data for .357 Mag?
Remington used to have a Law Enforcement Use only Multiball load for .357 Mag. with 2 70Gr. balls of 000 Buck. I have two boxes of this in pretty good condition and don't want to disassemble what I think will be a collector's item one day, if it isn't already.

Matt45,
I have seen some commercial loads that look like they use the
Speer Shot Capsule. I have loaded plenty of these with 8 and 9 shot,
and have loaded some with I think OO or OOO buck (been so long I don't
remember exactly), even loaded some with 1 inch brad nails (they produced a wicked pattern on a 1 X 12 pine board at 7 yards, and had good penetration. I used the same load info. for the shot load. Most of my reloading stuff is still at my old shop behind my brothers
house, 65 miles away. Someone else on here probably has the info., or
next time I go down there I will get it for you. On another note regarding this type ammo, I believe in carrying factory ammo, not
reloads, for self defense.
Don't send flowers when I die. Send money now, I can buy more ammo.0 -
I use a Lee .36 round ball mold. I don't load them very hot. I use 2 in a 38 spl case and 3 in a 357 mag case. I load them with a flat wad cutter seating stem. I seat the top ball so a can crimp it in the middle. I usually load 3gr Bullseye in the 38 spl and 3.5gr in the 357 magnum. I have gotten pretty good accuray out of these. They don't spread very much. 0 -
I have the old reloading for handgunners manual. In it is a good artice on 38 double ball loads along with the load data. This was by George Nonte. Would be glad to copy it and send it along or just email the load data if that is all you need. E mail me at mastershooter357@aol.com

mastershooter357- You've got mail!
Thanks for the replies guys- Peary is the closest to what I want to do, I wanted a "different" load, and don't want to use the shot capsules.
Bama55- Factory ammo is the only thing that will survive a grand jury or even a jury trial without the shooter being made to look like the "Jackal". (Hell, any civillian defending themself with a firearm is made out to be a rampaging lunatic anyways......)

Another quite fun load was the empty Speer 38 cal. shot capsule with 3 balls of #1 buckshot inside. Just enough space to load the balls and snap on the sealing rear cap. With moderate loads of Unique or Bullseye, the pellets spead anywhere from 3-6" at 10 yards. Hits pretty hard as well. I shot an old steel toaster one time with this load at about 12 yards and all three pellets hit within a 4" circle and almost penetrated all of the way through the toaster. Don't really know what the practical purpose of a load like this would be, but it was fun loading them up just to see what they would do. 0 -

The Lee 36 round ball projectiles you use would not be the pure lead balls you use in blackpowder pistols ,would they ?. I have a lot of these pure lead ones that I no longer shoot and would like to try them out, but I would imagine they would lead up the barrel if I used them??? If I can use them ,what amount of Winchester WST would you recommend in a 38 special case? (Bullseye is not readily available in Australia). Thanks for any info .

I cast my 36 cal ball out of wheel weight lead. They are hard enought that they don't deform much and they don't lead the barrel. 0 -

Unbatoloco-
I've looked in two of my books and cannot even give you load data for anything that has a listing for Bullseye and WST to compare and work off of.....Sorry.
For the rest of y'all that have been following this, I also posted this over at loadswap.com, here's the link to the post, and I was given some pretty good advice there.

RE: propellent profiles;WST is the old 452AA which is trap 100 which is HP38. When I say "is" , it is so simular as to be insignificant for our purpose.
