Gun case zippers
Has anyone else had a problem with gun case zippers??? Damn zippers
dont seem to last, even when treating them with candle wax, silocone,
and teflon dry lube. And I have at least 4 different makers of them.
Is this "planned obselence" ???

If you haven't already, try Boyt's; I've had mine 20 years without a hitch.

I'm a recovering bagaholic and am more than familiar with this problem. Most cases from most companies eventually has a zipper failure long before a hole wears through the case itself: either the stitching that retains them to the case fails or the zipper teeth snag in some manner. Good cases use name brand zippers that are more durable or self healing and longer lasting. YKK seem to be the best.
Depending on the case and your usage, you can reasonably expect a case to last for a decade. Alternatively, you can buy one of the plastic foam lined cases that go for about five to eight dollars. They work well enough for a handgun. I've had good luck with cases by Bagmaster and Boyt.
