Winchester 1400 Problems
I have a Winchester 1400 that has worked fine until recently. Now I can't get the bolt to lock back. It doesn't seem to be binding and can be manually pulled back but it just want stay locked. I took out the trigger group and bolt to make sure that it was cleaned and oiled. I was thinking about replacing the ejector (retainer type), ejector spring, and the disconnector assembly. My other thought was replacing the magazine throat and a carrier release kit. If any Winchester experts have other suggestions that might help, I would appreciate the advice.

I took out my Winchester 1400 today and encountered problems. I gave it a fairly good cleaning last night, but I got tons of jams today. Sometimes the shell would eject and the other 2 would get wedged in and stuck up against each other. It took a key to press them apart and pop one in. Other times, it would stick and not eject and other times the slide would not even move back at all to eject the shot shell. I've had this happen before once in awhile, but today these things happened after almost every shot. If anybody could help me solve this, I would appreciate it.

If the gun has not been broke in good Ive heard of simuliar problems. In one case the magazine spring pressure was to excessive. You might fully load it Mag only and let it sit for a week or so and see if that helps. If not I would send it back to the Factory.
Best!!

Am I understanding that more than one shell is being released from the magazine tube, and they are binding on the carrier?

Yes AntiqueDr I think we mean the same thing. The shell that has just been shot doesn't eject fully and the next one gets wedged in with the 3rd shell. For some reason the third shell comes out of the magazine tube a little and that one and the shell that should be going into the chamber get stuck up against each other on the carrier. Thanks.
