A friend wants me to find him a set of grips for a S&W Mod-10 . I'm not a pistol guy , can someone tell me which frame this piece has . I think it might be J but am not sure . I also don't know if they are round butt or square . Thanks folks !! [?] 0 -
If they don't fit well, they are likely to be cheap knock offs and worth very little. Genuine S&W grips usually have a logo somewhere even if they were made by some vendor for S&W.

You may have a "pre-K" set of grips. Some of the earlier models from S&W had a "pearl" grip offered on them. Most of these were vintage 1925 or earlier. They will fit the "K" frames, but will show noticable gaping especially arund the top of the grip. They also may show mismatching at the edges of the butt. They were more common on the square butts than the round buts. Are there ANY markings on the grips at all? Some carried some strange markings.

No markings other than brass colored S&W Medallions. The K frame size are yellowed with age, the J frame are still white. I'll post pics as soon as my wife brings the camera home. 0 -
The misfit J-frame grips may in fact for the I-frame. S&W medalions makes them original S&W parts since they are a registered trademark. 0
