    John,
The first rule of getting a value is to know what you are looking at ... seems like you have that down pretty well

Secondly, you need a through description of condition! % of bluing, and grade and type of wood the stocks are made of ... straight grain (common)or fully figured(exibition), any rust, dents, dings, pitting in the barrels? ... this will be a major factor in value, a piece that is rated at 99% has a dramatic drop in value compared to a 95% piece, and even more dramatic at 90%, this drop in value is most noticable in the premimum/rare firearms, so the better description of condition will result in a more accurate value.

One last note, everyone here (including the Moderators) are here free of charge, no one here gets paid for their advise/help, Capt'n Kirk, Der Gebirgsjager and AntiqueDR are probably your best bet on what sounds like a pretty rare item.

    Best,
    kk

Dear KK The guns are 98 to 99%, The friend of mine has never fired them in the 30+ years that he owned them. The wood is at least AA walnut grade with very fine checkering, it looks to be smaller than 22 to 24and have no missing tips, looking with a magnifying glass. The barrels inside are mirror finish, The barrels are blued and near perfect, with very, very minor scratches. The receivers are silver, not case harden or colored and the engraving is sharp and clear with little or no wear. they are as close or new as you can find... I hope this will help. If it would help my friend said that he bought them at an acution in London England for what was equal to $8000 American dollars. Like I say this was 30+ years ago... I hope this will help.I have no more info on the guns. Thanks for any help you can give.quote:

John - I had a feeling that they were probably excellent but thats not something I'd want to assume ... hopefully one of the above mentioned members can help you out with a value ... you may look for one of their posts and send them a privite message. With the exception of Cap't Kirk, I dont think either of the other two get over here very often. To find their posts easily, go to "Members", click the letter that corrosponds to their member name, scroll down to their name, click on that ... it will bring up a list of their recent posts, go to one of them and click on the little paper/envelope at the top of their post to send a privite message ...

Hope this helps - good luck!

This is way out of my league, but in his / your position, I'd look for some of the very upscale dealers / auction houses. The NRA might be able to give you some leads. I will say it is the kind of problem I wish I had . . . often .
