Glazer Safety Slugs
Hi,
I have a NAA 32acp and have a question about carry ammo, to make my decision of which to carry.
As far as 'ease of ignition', from firing pin strike point of view, does the GSS have a soft or hard primer. When I reload, I use winchester for most of my ammo, rifle or pistol. I know that CCI has probably the hardest primer and federal the softest. Where do the primers in GSS rate. I would rather not fire 10 - 20 rnds to find out reliability due to the cost if someone can answer the question. When all is said and done, I may end up carrying a federal round, but I already have 6 GSS 32acp.
My question is only for the rating of the primer. The only thing I don't care for too much so far is the gelatin tests showing poor fragmentation, but I could also carry a mix too.
thanks
Pete

Can't help you on this but you've helped me in identifying Federal as having the softest primers. I have a Chief and a Charter that don't like CCI primers.
Where did you see Glaser gelatin tests?0 -
Don't know where it's niche is, but I have fired them in a Bersa, 1911, Beretta 3032, and Glock23 and they always go bang. 0 -
There was a case down in Florida where a bad guy walked into a jewelry store and announced a holdup. The jeweler was carrying a concealed 380 pistol loaded with Glaser rounds. When the bad guy was distracted for a moment, the jeweler was able to get a shot off and hit the robber in the upper arm. Needless to say, the damage was severe and the bleeding very heavy. When the police arrived they thought that the jeweler had used a shotgun on the bad guy.
I myself was forced to use my concealed weapon to protect myself. I was carrying a S&W model 640 loaded with five Glaser 38 Special rounds. I was forced to fire a shot to defend myself and the Glaser 38 proved to be a one shot stop on this occasion. My shot went center chest and the bad guy went down instantly. It was a traumatic, bad experience and I still to this day feel horrible about taking a life...but...it was him or me.

I am glad to hear only good reports on this ammo, However for me I would not use this glaser ammo du to it's costs. I like to shoot the ammo that I plan on using in my self defence gun, So as I can be assured of its reliability in a semi auto. I could not even amagine a malfunction of the gun due to ammo I could not test extencevily. Being concerned of what primer to use !!! I would recommend perhaps using a conventional projectile and not worry about what primer to use with the glaser.
I'm not trying to be a smart __s, Just giveing you my honest openion on defence ammo.
Hope to read more on this topic.
