I happened to read a copy of "Gun Test" magazine that someone left in the club house at a local range several weeks ago and they gave the Colt Defender semiauto a very good rating. I don't have any personal experience with it. You might find some one who has a copy and decide for yourself. It was in a recent issue of the magazine..........Hondo 0 -
I doubt you'd have any more issues with than other Colts. The real nice feature of it is that it uses a full size magazine.

I have the "Defender" Not the Plus. Shot maybe 200 rds in it NO PROBLEMS! It's just about the samething as my Colt Officer. The slide was VERY sharp, and had to take that down ... Very good gun, takes the same mags as the Officer.
It will hurt you, More than it will hurt me..0 -
I also own the Defender. If the Defender Plus performs anywhere near the regular Defender grab it with both hands. For its size I think it is the BEST .45 out there. 0 -
I just bought a Defender. It runs Colt officers mags. My understanding is that it differs from the officers models in that
1.The recoil spring design is a spring over spring. Officers had single spring with guide rod & solid plug. The different design was required because of the short length of the barrel & slide.
2. barrel is only 3 inches versus the 3 1/2 in officer.
(FYI Commander barrel is 4 1/4 & full size models are 5 in.)
The Defender Plus(no longer in production) runs 1911 mags.
Hope that helps.[:D]0
