The difference is tha ADL is a blind magazine. They also are not as fancy and glossy finish as the BDL. The ADL also comes in a synthetic matte finish and can be bought for around 370-400. The BDL comes in a lot of variations. Glossy finish walnut, synthetic, detachable magazines, or hinged floorplate, varmint weight barrels, stainless fluted barrels and a higher price tag. The actual actions are identical! Try one you'll like it! GHD 0 -
For cosmetic reasons only I like the BDL Custom Deluxe.I think its one of the best looking Rifles made.
Best!!

Bottom line, The ADL has a blind (internal) magazine. The BDL has a floor plate or new ones can be a detachable mag. Over the years the finish on the ADL has come in all sorts of stock and finishes. 0 -
Back in the 60s BDL cost $10.00 more than the ADL, With the BDL you got a black plastic cap on the end of the stock and a external Mag release and a carrying sling, Well worth the extra money. 0 -
I think Martz has it right, the magazine is the distinguishing feature. Both guns have come in a wide variety of styles and finishes, and I have even seen a few that did not appear in catalogs as factory models.
The floorplate provides easy access for cleaning, maintenance and repair. The blind magazine leaves the stock stronger.
Anyone else know of any other advantages or disadvantages?

Thanks for the information.
Looks like I will go with the BDL model. Now all I have to decide is the calibre. It's coming down to either .22-250 Rem., or .25-06 Rem.
Have always been partial to wooden stock, especially walnut, and the hinged floor plate will make cleaning easier.

Airborne, You must have been reading my posts!! You have picked the two greatest calibers to choose from!! In VA the 22-250 is not a legal deer cartridge(the POS 30Carbine is, go figure!) The 25-06 will do extremely well in the varmint fields as well as make deer DRT (dead right there)! I guess if I could only have one rifle (that seems so far out of the question I can't even imagine) it would be a 25-06!! Hope that helps! GHD 0 -
groundhog devastation,
Yes, I have been enjoying some of your previous posts. Living in Arizona I'm looking for a good varmit rifle. Currently take my Browning Low-Wall, .22 Hornet, or Bushmaster, to the desert for prairie dogs. Have never owned a .26-06 Rem., but think it would fill a big void between my .22 Hornet and 30-06.
Thanks for your previous posts.

You may be overlooking an excellent .25 calibre. The Roberts, either standard or Improved. Check the ballistics of the Improved vs the 25-06. Have all three. Much prefer the Roberts Imp. 0 -
GWNelson, I agree that the three 25's you speak of are fine cartridges. Have never tried the improved Roberts cartridge but just like all of Mr. Ackleys work it was probably great! I love the 25's and my next project is a 257WSM built on a 700 long action to be able to seat bullets where they need to be. The load work will be a very fun and time consuming adventure I'm sure! The results will be very much fun as you watch the "red mist" illuminate the varmints!! GHD 0 -

Airborne, Don't know what causes these double posts but I get a timeout warning and then it does it! Anyway when you get the new 25-06 look up my post from 8/13/02 about loads for the 25-06. If you try them I'd be willing to bet you'll find one your gun likes!! GHD 0 -
groundhog devastation,
Again thanks for your input. My BDL has been ordered, went with 700 BDL Custom Deluxe, .25-06 Rem. Going through a local gun store they will be throwing in one box of free ammo. As soon as I go through my free ammo will try some of your recommendations.
