Help with High Standard Shot Gun
Buddy lend my his High Standard Flight King 20ga shot gun for my kid to use. This shotgun has not been fired in over 8 years and is in dire need of a good cleaning. Unlike my Reminton 870, there is not a screw cap on the end of the magazine tube. How do I begin to break this shotgun down? Any info is greatly appreciated!! There's also not a removeable chok, I'm assuming is a modified chok. The modle is K2011. Thanks again.

Just Shoot. I had a post and deleted after Joe was good enough to offer his services. However, upon further investigation, the 2 are totally different. If no one else can help, I'll repost as mine was based on a schematic and not firsthand experience. 0 -
OK, here's the way I see it. Uncock the piece. Under the mag tube cap is a screw that should be removed allowing the cap to fly across the room launched by the mag spring. This should allow the forearm to slide forward after disconnecting the arms from the bolt. There are flanges in the bolt that fit in slots on either arm that should disconnect when the forearm is slid forward. The slots are canted to the rear and some downward pressure may be necessary. If it doesn't come easy the next 2 steps will give you better access. The barrel is screwed into the receiver and the bolt will probably not come out easily. For access and for a thorough cleaning, you will have to remove the trigger group. There are 2 pins through the receiver that hold it in. Remove the screw that holds the rear pin then remove the pins from left to right. You will need a small punch. Re-insert right to left. That should be all you'll need. The bolt and trigger group should come out as whole pieces. If, for some reason, you have to take the forearm assbly apart (which I doubt) there is a lock ring on the forend that holds it together. The mag tube should come off when the forearm is removed. All I can say is watch how these pieces come apart for re-assbly. I'll check back if you have problems and try to help, if necessary. If you really would rather not tear it down completely, You could probably leave the bolt and forearm connected, then take off the trigger assbly and spray the innards with some aerosol brake cleaner then oil. Look on left side of barrel for a marking (*) This denotes choke. * full ** mod *** imp cyl **** skeet.
