Afraid I can't help you on the rifle, but I have a question ...
Wife PROOF?
Why would you need permission?
Are you not the MAN?
Isn't what you say law?
Ooop's ... gota go ....

This problem with the wife never arose until i taught her to shoot years ago. Now she has the capability to put me in a world of hurt should i step outta line as she so delicately puts it

cwinn,
I have been nothing but pleased with my AR-30. I can typically group .5 MOA on good days with it. Bad days at the range may spread out to 3" or so. The rifle is capable of .5 MOA. If you are getting a good buy on one the only thing I would recommend is have someone who knows how to evaluate good rifling look at the barrel if it's a .300 win or .338 Lapua to see that you have left. If it's new don't hesitate. Even though they have a very good barrel(Lothar Walther) the magnums and especially the .338 can shoot out a barrel quickly if not properly managed.
Something of note here: I noted 46270 has the muzzle brake on his .300 as I do mine. I will attest it takes at least 90% of the recoil away. The muzzle blast is incredible though. The reason I like the brake is I can watch the bullet hit the target. It literally makes the recoil less than in my .223. Maybe 46270 will post again regarding his feeling of the managed recoil versus the blast and which you would prefer.0 -
lucky man 46270. I would be happy with ONE.
I am thinking of the AR-30 for my next one.0
