bent bolt conversion for Mauser
I have an old 8mm Turkish Mauser that I am looking to update the stock on. I have found several catalogs that carry synthetic stocks (Cabela's, Sportsman's Guide, Cheaper than Dirt, etc) But they all require a bent bolt conversion to emable the use of a scope. Does anyone know how easy one of these conversions is? They are also sold in the catalogs. I could use any help on this matter anyone could give. Thanks

Going to require a Gunsmith or someone with experiance to fit Bolt to stock..Normally a replacement Bolt has to be Head Spaced...Check with a Local gunsmith and talk it over with him for a second opinion....

The replacements modify the existing bolt. They require a hacksaw, drill, and a steady hand. I took a torch to my bolt handle and bent it that way(not recommended). 0 -
I'd have a gunsmith bent the current bolt. Its pretty easily and cheaply done. It really shouldn't run you more than $25-35 to get it done.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

To make your new bolt look like a sporter bolt instead of something that came from the early 1900's. Have a gunsmith cut the old military bolt handle off and replace the bolt handle with a more modern looking bolt handle. A gunsmith will charge between $35-$45.00 to cut off the old handle and reweld a new modern bolt handle in it's place.

Or you could always buy these Parker-Hale replacements on GB, item #5182057

Try ER Shaw, Inc. I have not received my M48 in the 308win, but give them a try. phone number is 412-221-3636 and in Pa if that matter.

Spec.4, Be prepared to wait took 7 months for my XP to get rebarreled.I've been told they are doing barrels for, I think it was Charles Daly's mauser reproductions. Good Luck, Alan 0 -

i purchased one of the 'drill & tap' ones & find it very dissappointing.
primarily because you will still have to use extra-tall scope rings w/it.jmho

LSandBinc, thanks for the warning, but I am in no hurry for the barrel action because I still have to get the rest of the rifle.
