If they are jamming against the ramp it is probably the magazine.
If it is a stock Colt mag. with straight
feed lips, that could be your problem. You need a magazine that
the feed lips are modified to feed the semi-wadcutter ammo.

Don't send flowers when I die. Send money now, I can buy more ammo.

An OAL of 1.170- 1.180" is correct for the 45ACP-185 swc. Generally a SWC OAL has to be less than that of the RN to stack and function in an auto magazine.
Let us know if it works out.

Hard to diagnose without having it in your hand. (1) Are the cast bullets sized to the proper diameter? If you bought them from an outside source you might mike them. (2) Is your resizing die adjusted properly, down to just about an eighth of an inch above the shell holder? (Read the directions for your die set again--some brands require different settings). (3) Are you putting a little crimp on the loaded cartridges? If left uncrimped sometimes the mouth of the case will catch on the way into the chamber. (4) Too much crimp? Perhaps the brass around the case mouth is forming into a ring that prevents proper cycling or entry into the chamber (often hard to see if just a little too much--but can be felt with the finger tips). (5) Are the noses of the bullets badly gouged after attempting to cycle them? Might indicate the lack of a smooth transition from the magazine well to the feed ramp.

MAYBE YOU NEED TO HAVE THE BARREL THROATED AND THE FEED RAMP POLISHED IN ORDER FOR YOUR GUN TO SHOOT SWC. MOST ARE FOR THE 230 RN AMMO. I DON'T THINK YOU STATED WHAT THE MFG. OF YOUR GUN WAS. ALSO YOU MAY WISH TO HAVE THE EJECTION PORT RELIEVED FOR NO TROUBLE EJECTION.

You say some won't even chamber manually? Sounds like the bullets were not sized before loading. If the diameter is too large to fit in the chamber, you will have to pull the bullets and resize the brass before loading new bullets or running these through a sizer.

Simple way to find out if bullets are sized OK.Take gun apart and see if they fit in the chamber. You should use only a taper crimp.

Are you using a roll crimp or a taper crimp? Also you gun just might not like semi-wad cutters, just because your feed ramp is polished doesn't mean that your gun will function with them... Try using lead round nose bullets on your next set of handload and see if it works.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
