1865 Model 2 Army value pls.
Same friend has a .32 cal 1865 model 2 Army with 5 or 6" barrel, #340 stamped on barrel, serial #372xx in very good conditon. Says it was a union officers gun in civil war. Any idea on value and market? If not any idea on where to look? Thanks again.

Sorry, I knew what I meant! It is a break open revolver Smith And Wesson .32 cal S&W Long, model 2 Army made in 1865 and looks like a cross between a Smith and Wesson #1 and #3 that are listed here in the auction. The model and info came from a letter from S&W based on a description and the serial number. Does this make more sense? Thanks. 0 -
Not if it's a centerfire. So far it sounds like a cheap Belgian import. Are there any makers' markings on it? 0 -
Send A Photo: Not enough information tendered to be absolutly sure of what You have..Transition Models started with Serial No. 1...so there's no way to tell what one you have without a photo or having it in hand to compare against known models...

I only saw it once but I think it only has the numbers stamped on the frame and barrel. There are also numbers on the cylinder but I could not read them. I will get a photo and post it. Would the letter from S&W be accurate about the model and date of manufacture based on the serial number? Thanks. 0 -
SERIAL NUMBERS are only going to be good for the particular gun were discussing, and we hav'nt a clue which one you have....Send photo...You have over 50,000 people wanting to help you....But until we get a complete and comprehensive Discription or a Photo...we're all dead in the water....
