Take down on a 25cal.
After my father past away among his belongings was a RG model #42,25cal pistol(ERMA design).I learned to shoot a pistol with this gun as a kid. This is not a defence gun for me,but I do like to shoot all my guns.Long story short, the firing pin broke.I have found a source for the pin and a new mag,but I can't get figure out how it takes down.Just forward of the trigger(in trigger guard) there is a spring loaded leaver that pulls down.I Thought my father used to twist the barrel to get it to come apart but I have tried that and the barrel refuses to turn.Every other RG I have seen has grip screws. On this one they snap in place and held there by a clip and spring in the mag well.Any info would be greatly appreciated!CW

Here's a guess. The spring loaded clip may hold the slide in the take down position which may be partway to the rear; maybe 1/2" or so. You then rotate the barrel 1/4 turn ccw. Then pull out the barrel and release the slide. This is the widely copied Browning system.
I twice broke Baby Browning 25 firing pins from a lot of dry firing.
It's probably smart to dry fire on a fired case on these guns.0 -
First thanks for your helpful comments.I have the Numrich gun parts catalog with all the break downs.None of the RG models in it have the spring loaded clip under the slide.Mine is a model 42 which in not listed.I must be wrong about the barrel being turned, because as you look in the ejecting port the chamber at that end of the barrel are squared even with the inner side of the slide. Thanks again.CW

Don't discard the rotating barrel idea yet. There may be a machined recess partway along the inside of the slide that will allow the barrel to rotate counterclockwise and dismount. The spring loaded lever has to figure in to the disassembly.
If there is a notch in the safety side of the slide, move the slide back and swing the safety up into the notch then pull down the lever and rotate the barrel CCW . Either the barrel or the slide assembly should come forward.0 -
Gentlmen thanks for the info. The the spring loaded lever was a spring loaded pin that went into the bottom of the barrel lug. That is all that holds it in place,no rotation. It had refused to come off because of the piece of broken firing pin was lodged between slide and barrel. As always thanks David and v35.CW
