Western Auto question
I have a Revelation Model 335 .410 guage shotgun by Western Auto Supply Co. it has absolutely no serial # or part #s on the entire gun. It is a bolt action, the only information on the gun is the make, model & guage, not even whether or not it takes 2 3/4 or 3" shells.
What I want is to sell it, I don't bird hunt & that's what a .410 is best for, so can anyone tell me what it might be worth & why there is no serial # or part #s as well as no other relevant information?
Thanks, Joel

this is a inexpensive shotgun, they did not have to have a ser. # before 1964. probably worth about $75 for a shooter. 0 -
you neglected to say condition...condition of wood.. blueing on parts... nicks, scrathes, dent, missing parts, ect...all have effect on price $50.00 & up 0 -
Condition is very good, blueing needs to be redone at one spot on the bottom of the barrel where it touches the stock. All parts are there, the stock is a tad scuffed, but only on the butt. All in all, it's in fine condition, a coat of light varnish & it could be put in a gun rack for display purposes, it works perfectly & is well maintained & lubed internally, as are all of my firearms. 0 -
Alot of those guns were Stevens/Savage and were fine little utilatarian guns. I have a book some where that tells the maker if you got the man. #, there was a date of man. code too on the gun too. 0 -
Neither The Blue Book nor Numrich cross over lists show a Revelation or W.A. model 335. The estimates you got above are likely right on. Store brands never bring as much as the underlying gun with manufacturers name.

To address the most important part of your question. Not knowing for sure, but being pre s/n, I would bet my last buck that it is for 2 1/2". Run a wooden dowel in the barrel until it stop at the chamber edge. mark it at the breech and measure it. It will measure slightly longer than the shell length to allow room for crimp to open.

Actually, there is no man. code, there is just the make & model, as well as a small, peculiar stamp on the barrel just before the action, it looks like a P or a Greek phi, there is also a J VERY VERY lightly impressed on the breach, but this is all on the entire weapon, including the stock.0 -
Numrich has it cross ref. as a Marlin 59. No date of man. or shell size. As stated probably $75 tops. JMO. 0 -
The Numrich list is for a model 335-xxxx. I cannot find a model 59 Marlin in the Blue Book or on other Numrich lists.

Neither, it's single shot bolt action.0
