788 convert to 284

Can a 788 be converted to a .284 I have a 6mm for this conversion.

  6mm Remington to .284 Win., Correct? This conversion is possible, but you will have to rebarrel as a .284 chambering reamer will not clean out a 6mm chamber-- as the distance from the rim to the shoulder and overall case length of the 6mm are longer than that of the .284. There is only one thousandth difference in the rim sizes, and the 788's bolt face will probably work without modification.

  Will the wider 284 case fit in the 788 mag??

  Dunno. Would have to have it in hand. Maybe. Magazines often have a little slop.
