Ruger carbine VS. hi-point 9mm
Hi every one I was looking into buying one of those 9mm carbines and came across to kind, a Ruger 9mm (I don?t know the model but I think this is the one which accepts P series handgun mags and the other is 9mm hi-point. Has any one had any experiences with eather one? I know that Ruger has its name and price but I am looking at decent accurate little rifle. I know I am not gonna shot buck with that but I would like to have some fun at the range and not to worry that I point at one place and the rifle shoots somewhere else. If any one had either rifle please share some info. (Price accuracy and handling)
Thanks Mark

I have never owned a Hi-Point firearm, but I hear their carbine is a good buy for the money. I have owned a Ruger PC-9. The Ruger PC-9 is accurate, fun and reliable. I would say that this is a 50yd gun for fun, rabbits, coyotes, maybe small pigs, tin cans, and of course a low recoil home defense gun. The Ruger I had worked flawlessly with factory mags, but occassionaly jammed with aftermarket hi cap mags. The Ruger will run about $350 and the Hi-Point about $150. If you are looking for a pure low cost fun gun, get a 22 semi auto. If you want to test the waters with pistol cartridge carbines, I would try the Hi-Point first so you won't be out too much $$$.
Do a search in these forums and I'm sure you will find multiple posts on the pros and cons of the pistol cartridge carbines.0 -
just one question the ruger carbines come in different models PC4 and PC9 is there any difference between those two
thanks Mark0 -
I have heard nothing but good things about the Hi-Point Carbine.I have heard that the Ruger is over priced and could benefit from better sites but they are still quality.I think the Ruger would probably out last the Hi-Point but I dont think you could go wrong with either.I am biased against rifles in pistol calibers so given my choice of the 2 I would pick the M1 Carbine.

The Pc-4 is in .40s&w and the PC-9 is in 9mm.

The PC-9 will accept Ruger 9MM Mags, and there plenty of HI cap mags around. It is a very good gun,but much more expensive than the Hi Point carbine which I have found to be very reliable and accurate.Gun Test magazine gave the Hi-Point a best buy rateing over the Ruger.I dont think you will go wrong either way.
Best!!!
