Yugo SKS
For the last time, I want to buy this Yugo sks(http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Yugoslavian_Model_59_66_7_62x39_SKS_Rifle.html), i asked my local dealer and he said that was afuwl cheap in price. Are these guns cheap or am i getting jipped off or what? I just dont want the gun to blow up or not work. Thankyou.

I know this is a common subject, but....
I just ordered a used Yugoslavian SKS and am wandering what I need to do before I go out and shoot this thing. I would assume break it down and clean the hell out of it. Also, are pretty much all sks parts interchangeable with these YUGO's??? Any other information you can provide a first time sks owner would be great.
Thanks alot,
Brandon
Better to carry a pistol and not need it than need a pistol and not have it.0 -

This site will answer any question you could have on a SKS it has a FAQ section covering just these types of problems.Great link.Could be a bent and sticking firing pin MAKE SURE you read the section on slam fires.

Im still waiting on the site operator to mail me back.I sent some to Howard Bearse but they kept coming back.I think it is Chinese manufactured but was issued to the N.V.A I found a N.V.A regiment and division that coinsides with my English markings but is still un-clear so far.

i had the same problem with a yugo sks and found the main spring too strong, replaced it with a main spring from a rem. 7400/742 and works fine now. 0 -
Be certain you have completely stripped and cleaned out every bit of gunk and grease in the action. 0 -
Thunderbolt was thinking the same thing I was I would try that first.

yopu probably know this but here is a possibility. You said Yogo SKS right? Aren't those the ones with the grenade launcher attachment? Well you have to make sure the switch on the front by the gas return is turned to the side or else it won't cycle properly. it is the switch that is right under the grenade sight. It is a round button. Press in on it and turn it to the right I believe.
You probably know this but it doesn't hurt ot mention it.
