Beretta 96

Does anyone have experience or information about the beretta 96 in black stainless and how well this finish holds up? How new is this finish on the beretta's and can the plastic guide rod in these gun be replaced with a metal rod?

  Can you convert a Beretta 96 to a Centurion model by just swaping the slide, barrel,recoil spring and guide rod ? If so can you get the spring and guide rod from beretta or another source?

  In my opinion I think it wont work.It seems like the two slides are not interchangeable.The centurion is a little wider than the 96 slide.I suggest you call Beretta and ask one of their Gun Smiths.
