old wartime 32 cal what is it?
Hello all;
I recently pick up this dresser that had an old 32 caliber wartime revolver. It is a 6 shooter revolver came in a leather pouch. It was brought back in 1945 (i assume from england). It was supposidly caputred from an enimy. Almost every peice has 17 stamped on it. The army papper said it was no. 17 no name. It has a folding trigger and is dual action. The cilinder has a oval with a crown on it and the letters E L G in it. The gun butt to barrel is about 4 inches long.
If someone could help me find out what it is and what it is worth i would greatly appreaciate it.
I will try to get a picture up here before too long.

Belgian manufacture and not very valuable. 0 -
Hello "Fortytwo", I have seen only one of these guns before and it looked good to me. The gun is cool in and of itself but unless you find a collector who REALLY wants it, it is just a great story piece. Good luck in your search.
Talk to you later,
Michael
P.S. Call me if you would like to get that address for the magazine.

The proof mark is definately a Belgian mark. They have used it since 1893 for "definitive black powder proof for breech loading guns, small bore guns, & handguns". There should be a star under the letters in the oval as well. Other than that I can't help much.
The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!0 -
Hello, you are correct, there is a star in the oval.
Thank you,
Michael

Good Afternoon Ed: I agree with everyone about the Country of Manufacture...Its definately a Belguim Piece..By the discription you give it was most likely Made pre 1900's...What I'd like to know is how You arrived at the Caliber?..As for being a Capture Gun....? Very unlikely...More of a Found Trophy, and memento of the The War... Cleared, to bring back to the States By a returning Soldier... I'd like to know if this PIECE is a Center Fire or Rim Fire or a Pin Fire.....Gun...?...How about a Photo...? It sure would clear up the Mystery.....You can send me the Photo...if available to My Posted Address.....By the way.....Welcome to the Ask the Experts Forums and the gunbroker.com Family......best....Captain Kirk

Forty-Two, I have an old book (catalogue) called Arms Of The World 1911 with about 50 pictures and descriptions of some of these old Belgian folding trigger type revolvers. If you can post a picture and I can kick my memory into Drive I will try to match it up for you. I think you are probably correct on the caliber as most of these are described as 7.65 mm. 0 -
