SW99 sold to me as new was used, worth$??
I traded for a "new" SW99 in 9mm, it appeared new, was represented as new. When I got to tearing apart the box, it was sold in feb 2001 to a New Jersey state trooper. I called Smith and Wesson and they told me it was indeed used. I called the dealer, I bought it at a gun show, he said he didn't know it was used, he bought it from a distributor. He sounded to me like he was telling the truth and said he'll make it right when I can meet him at a gun show in 2 weeks.
Now the crux of my question is it was a SW99 with night sights, one magazine, and I traded for it and it was marked $569.
What is the range of retail for this gun new?

PriI'm looking at an advertisement for a brand new one from Bachman Pawn and Gun in all colors for $479.95, you can call them (214) 351-0572. I don't think you'll get anymore for its previous owner being in law enforcement. I'd say you paid a little to much for it, though it having night sights sould amp the value about $50. Blue book and retail on these guns are alot higher than market value. I'd honesly say that a dealer will probably only give you in the range of $300-400 for a trade in. I myself dealing alot in firearms if you approached me would only give you $350 in order to turn it around at about $425. But if you can put it in the paper or find an individual to purchase it I'd try and sell it for about $400-450.
If I were you I'd take it back to the dealer you bought it from and get your money back, because he sold it to you under false pretenses, and thats against the law. If you don't feel like bothering, look on the bright side, you have an excellent duty capable firearm.

According to my info Lee has got it about right at 98%.If the Dealer sold you a trade in and was unaware of it,your ok.I had to go back and recheck the updated files in my PC B BOOK.The gun has probably been shot very little,maybe to qualify with or maybe not at all.Depts usually have extra guns on hand like the ones they issue.That way if an Officer is involved in a shooting they can replace his gun which has to be taken,with one just like it.I went back and looked in my files and they say at 98% $498.00-$525.00 with all the back straps and extra mag.You can tell by inspecting the gun if it has been shot alot.There is a supposed price change in the new guns,so you might call and see what there going for.

I do not mean to be annoying but can anyone tell me who make's nite sites for $50? My dealer does a lot of buying and selling to LEO's and many times he has offered me a HK and he tells me this "I know these men, many of these HK have never been fired but the department wants a different model or caliber; and some have only been fired so they can see what they are like"
I think if you had been willing to do some real, down to earth, old time dickering you woulda got a lower price!
From what you said that "he is willing to make it right" tells me a great deal about the MAN you dealt with...can you be the same MAN he is...
