Did some of the last Ruger M77 MkII's come with the new LC6 trigger that they are putting in the "Hawkeyes"? I recently purchased a M77 MKII and the trigger on it is much better then any of the Ruger's I have owned or fired in the past. Thanks,

What exactly is it doing? Is the bolt going into battery properly? Are the internals clean? How many rounds have you put thru the gun? Really more information is needed for it to be trouble shooted. What exactly do you mean by it won't fire.

First thing I'd advise you do it take it completely apart, and clean it really good, including the breech face, and stuff around the hammer. Also it wouldn't hurt to measure the length of the old firing pin and compare it to the length of the new, just to see if you old firing pin was really bad or not.

Try putting one round into the chamber, with no clip, and see if it will fire, then post back.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

First thing to check is that the barrel is tightly attached to the receiver.

I gave it what I belive is a good clean, and i dont' think the firing pin was bad, they measured out the same or dam close. But what it does is will fire one round then might not fire again for 10 rounds, i will keep ejecting out the round and loading another one. And its probably had i dont' know used to shoot it alot so 5 to 10000 rounds maybe more at one time i would shoot a brick a day when i was still in high school.

the shells that won't fire--- what does the indentation look like? is it the same as the one that fires?>>>>>>>>barrel tight?>>>>>>>>get some Birchwood/Casey Gun Scrubber use on bolt/ trigger housing/ get a 25 caliber pistol cleaning brush make sure you use it in the chamber area>>>> make sure the area on the barrel chamber face is clean, use a small screw driver blade/ knife to clean area of the bolt face chamber were the base of the shell fits in when loaded & under the extractor.....all of the above would cause your problem....... bad ammo????

If i dont' go fishing tonight will work on cleaning it some more and making the barrel tighter it might be a little loose. And i used 2 or 3 different kinds of ammo on it and cant' remember on the dent thing was real busy when i started working on the problem got some time off now to do it.

In my opinion, you may have gotten a lemon.I would call Ruger and get a control no. and send it back.Ruger has a good customer service policy.

Well i have owned since it was new. And this is the first problem i have had with it. Would have thought the problem would have surfaced sooner. Can't afford to have them fix it at the moment so not sure it is worth it for them to look at it. Was kinda of curious about it.

Pdog - If it is a "real" problem, I believe Ruger will fix it for nothing. I have a 10/22 bought new in '78 and it has LAWD knows how many rounds through it, probably in the 25-30,000 range. Still shoots like new, have replaced the extractor a couple times, which Ruger has sent to me for nothing both times. Do not hesitate to get ahold of Ruger, they are good !
