S&W Model 14 ????
Over the weekend I was at my local gun shop.
Owner showed me a S&W I had never seen before.
It's a Model 14, with Target Trigger and Hammer. Pinned barrel and recessed cylinder. 6 inch barrel and would rate 95% blue and same for grips.
What baffles me is the fact that you can't fire it double action-action has been changed to single action only.
Blue Book says nothing about the "single action" thing and estimates the value w/6" barrel @ $235. Is this in the ball park?

Very much in the ball park. The Model 14 is a 38 Special target gun. The Single Action Only was a rarer option for the gun. Try it with 148 wad cutters and it should make one ragged hole at 25yds. 0 -
If you see a S & W 14 for a decent price, snatch it up. 0 -
Whoa, Whoa Sir Saxon.
Put the 10 G's back in your money clip.
You are "SO" right, it is not recessed.
That's what I know about Smiths and I should say- 38s.
And as far as price, I say the $235 is what Blue Book says it's worth.
He's going (had just traded for) to put $395 sticker on it and would take $340.
Take care and thanks for the correction.

Spring creek,,,, The Smith mdl 14's are very nice guns, and their answer to Colts officers model match target revolver. I have 3 14's the oldest I carried for about 4 years at the start of my L.E. career. I won the top shooter trophy in my academy class with that gun, so it has much sentimental value. It is a DA model.
The S/A only model was made for competition as it has a faster lock-time. The standard catalog says add 20% for the SA version. The SA guns were made from 1961 to 1981. In exc cond $275.00, Good $200.00
