Evening Eric, The Vietnamese did'nt make AK47's or SKS's..Although the Design is SOVIET they were not Soviet made, they are of Chinese Communist manufacture and bear thier markings..If it has any Vietnamese Markings it will be quite rare, as the NVA and the CONG never left any marks which could be traced and give any evidence as to what Company or Regiment the particular piece of equipment came from, if found in the Field after a Battle...Sounds like a Battle Field pickup...I don't Know if it was Legal or Illegal to bring this Weapon home...But there sure were a bunch brought back home...Hand guns were the most popular...The Cao Dai .9mm Copy of the FN Browning...Then there was the Cambodian 9mm Pistol and the Cao Dai 9mm copy of the Colt 1911A1 ....Afetr all these years...I don't think its going to be of any big consequince....Best...

The letters and numbers are engraved it looks like one of those dot engravers. The wood is a little funky it has some dings the finish is a very dark brown. All the markings seem to match each other there are 8 on the front of the receiver on left side,3 on the back of the receiver by where the receiver eets the stock the Star on the right of the receiver,There is one single mark on top of the bolt which is very small almost small enough to not even make out.The finsh is not that bad but it has obviously been exposed to the elements some light pitting.I took it out and shot it yesterday and it shot fine.I was told the numbers were 7th Division 165th Regiment and 7/68 was the date. But I dont know if that is who it was taken from or who it was taken by.I will try to dis-assemble it to find more markings if I can.

Do you know if I could contact someone to get duplicate papers on it?I wil contact who I bought it from and see if he can put me in touch with the woman who sold it,she might have the paperwork and not know it or not recognise it.I sure as hell hope he didnt throw it out.
