Reloading 380 Auto
Is this a worthwhile practice? I'm not big on this cartridge, but the local gunshop offers very little choice in practice ammo, not too cheap either and I could probably load a year or two's supply in a couple of evenings once I get a suitable load worked up.

A friend gave me 2000 empty .380 cases and I bought 2000 pulled bullets from an auction real cheap so I bought a used set of dies and loaded up a bunch of ammo. .380s are easy to load so I have a lot of cheap plinking ammo.
If you don't care where you are going, you can't get lost.0 -
It all depends what you think is cheap. J& G Sales has it for around $5.00 a box in 500-1000 round lots. 0 -
For what you'd buy for really cheap you could handload alot better round for the same price. Just something I learned thru experience. (IE: you can buy wolf .223rem for $2 a box, but I can handload a 1/2MOA round for that)
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Im not a fan of the .380 however I think you could experiment a little and come out way ahead by reloading. But there are alot of surplus ammo for the .380 for plinking.
Best!!!

My thoughts are that this would be a good round for practicing point firing, weak hand shooting and the like as a supplement to the usual stuff. My big 45s and 9mms aren't really necessary for this until I get good.

mballai: try Oregon Trail laser-cast 95gn RN with 4.0 unique, cci primer-- at about 850 f/s and about $3.00 /50 shoots good. I carry a 380 most of the time so I shoot it alot this works good for me
It should only take one !!!0 -
I have 1500-1600 once fired cases for the 380 acp if anybody is interested??? All nice and clean and enough for a couple of years of mousegun shooting practice once they are loaded. Make me an offer and they are yours....
