chambers the .50-70 rimmed centerfire round
32 5/8 inch barrel total length 52 inches
has an eagle and shield crest on the left side of the reciever
WARD.BURTON.PATENT.DEC.20.1859.FEB.21.1871.(top of bolt)
bolt/pull style action(firing pin retracts into bolt as breech is opened)
adjustable ramp and leaf battle sight graduated out to 900 yds???
nra good or better condition/nra mint plus bore&rifling

2. what bayonet does it except???
3. were can i buy a bayonet(real and repro)???
4. were can i get a cleaning rod???
5. who used this rifle(what unit) in the field trials???
6. were to obtain reference material(publications,books,history,etc...)???

Your rifle and the carbine version are shown on page 469 of the 5th Edition of "Flayderman's Guide To Antique American Firearms.....and their values" as having a value of $750 in very good condition and $1,750 in excellent condition.
