I was told by a gun dealer a little while back that the guns could use the same magazines as a certain sig-sauer pistol. im not sure as to which one or even if this is a true statement, but i would contact the factory if you cant find out from the guys here (highly unlikely) if this is true the gun could use a high cap mag from the sig 9mm pistols. good luck

I heard they used their own mags only, but if they use Sig mags that would be interesting info. The member who would know for sure (I think) is lrarmsx. You can email him at lrarmsx@mchsi.com .

It would have to be a single stack mag,I had some extended 10RD Ruger P90 mag I thought I would try(I know the .45 wont hold 9mm cartridges)Anyway they would not lock in place. All single stack Sig Mags Ive seen only hold 8 RDS.I just bought a couple of factory Hi-Point mags to have on hand.Boy they sure are shooters though.

    Best!!!

I contacted Hi Point a while back with the same question and they said that no other mags would interchange with that gun. They also said that there were never any hi cap mags made for it. If someone has found some that will work I would be interested in knowing which ones.

I to have heard rumor of extended lenght high cap mags for highpoint, but from the uncredible source this is highly unlikely.

As far as magazines being interchangable, there aren't any.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

There is no other mag design that fits the Hi Point 9mm carbine, unfortunately. ProMag has made 10rd mags for it and there is of course the factory original 10rd, but nothing any longer. Hi Point did not use a pre-existing design for their magazine, it was made for their gun, by them. The gun itself was released after the passage of the Crime Bill of 1994 which banned the further production of high capacity mags for the general public. The Marlin Camp 9 uses S&W style mags and the Ruger PC9 uses Ruger type mags, the Keltec Sub 9 and Sub 2000 use avariety of pre-existing mag designs (S&W, Glock, Beretta, Sig), so in each case high cap mags do exist, but for the Hi Point 995 carbine there are not now, and will never be any high cap mags (unless the laws are changed).

In general, single stack, extended mags don't work all the well. Anything longer than about 10-12rds and you start to have problems. Some of the 15 rd single stack mags for the 1911 .45 are basically worthless. The 10rd and some of the 11rd ones work fine however. If the Hi Point carbine took someone elses double stack mag, it would be a better seller, but at this point we are stuck with what we have. That is not to say that someone might not come up with a new grip assembly for the Hi Point that would take some other existing high capacity design. There have been kits made for the HK SL8 and others. Unfortunately the grip assembly for the Hi Point is all together with the rest of the stock assembly, so a retro-fit could be complicated. Additionally retro-fitting a $1300 rifle with a $300 mag kit is a bit more likely than reto-fitting a $180 rifle with a $300 mag kit.

So the final statement is: Many dealers (and others) may be mis-informed about what does or doesn't fit into the Hi Point carbine model 995, but there is no other mag that fits. Currently (as well as previously) there is no alternative magazine for the Hi Point other than the factory 10rd and the aftermarket 10rd made specifically for the Hi Point. There have been extended 15 rd single stack 9mm mags made for the old S&W 39 series as well as others. Those could be hacked on in an attempt to make them fit the Hi Point, but I wouldn't waste my time. It most likely would be a waste of time, of money, and ultimately result in the destruction of a difficult to find mag that was of questionable quality in the first place.
