Pre 64 Winchester question
I am looking for information about a 1950 Winchester mod 70 in 30-06. I was wondering what this rifle is worth. The walnut stock is in very good shape showing only minor wear. The bore is excellent. This Winchester has been fitted with a Winchester certified "accurized" barrel. This modification was performed by Winchester. The rifle still functions perfectly, and the headspace is OK. Overall, I would rate this rifle in very good to excellent condition. Any insight as to this rifle's value would be appreciated.

The 30-06 was the most common caliber in the mod.70 (and a good one). The "accuracy" barrel indicates a variation to the standard barrel in either diameter, contour, length, or rifling in some combination.I do not know what value it adds to a standard rifle. Up to 1952, the mod 70 had an integral sight ramp (part of the barrel, not soldered on). If its standard (not super grade with cheekpiece and black tipped forend) and has original sights and steel buttplate, its worth $900-1000 in 98/99% condition.Super-grades are worth almost twice that. Again, this is without the accuracy barrel consideration. You might get some variation in value predictions, but that seems to be what Ive seen in the last 6 months.
