AR15s??? cont.
Ramalini- I dont like having to cock my head to get in back of the AR sights either. Stock drop at the heel is only about 2 1/8". I like at least another inch. If you have only one gun you get used to it but if you have a lot of guns ,it's a nusiance. Nontheless, I love the the rifle and have four different upper combinations including a 6mmx45.

It is not a safety, it is not a mag release. Looks like it is an extended bolt catch release. It is designed that way so you can close the bolt after a magazine change(emergency reload) with your trigger finger. I have never tried one, but it seems like a really good idea to me. Kimberkid, does it work as well as it looks like it should? 0 -
vallopez2000 - That's exactly what it is, and it works very well. This is my Match rifle and the extended slide release is great, especially for slow fire (loading one round at a time) it allows you to close the slide without changing your position to hit the release with your left hand or having to reach over the top to close with your right hand, just reach through the trigger guard. The release kit is sold with a new slide stop and pivots on the same pin as the slide stop, it has a small spring at the top to keep it from rattling and close in to the receiver.
v35 - Actually they are not bushings, I use anti-walk pins, they have a small head on one side and a C-clip on the other to hold them in, those are just miniature washers to take up end play as they are not notched to be retained by the springs like the mil-spec pins are.
Anyone that's wondering, I had initially installed a Ergo grip which gave me about 1/2" more pull but it wasn't quite enough to get the grip position I was looking for, so I started looking for a trigger shoe, finding none available I modified one from a 1911, I narrowed the front of the AR trigger to fit into a slot I cut into the back of the 1911 trigger. I like the serrated texture for a more positive grip on the trigger and It gives me about 3/8" more pull to position the tip on my finger on the trigger rather than the 1st knuckle, which is less sensitive to pressure. The trigger the "set" type, with a straight pull of just over 4.5 pounds and a set pull of 2 pounds; so pressure sensitivity is important. Although I think it looks cool, there was a practical reason for it in the beginning.
