    How good of a rifle is the Savage 111? I am lokking at 1 in a left hand .243 for my daughter.

    Right now on auction you can get a Winchester 70 Black Shadow in .300 Win Mag for $399.00.Good Rifle and a very good hunting caliber.Its not much more than the Savage 111 maybe $25.00-$55.00 dollars.Savage does make good Rifles I have a friend who hunt with one in 7mm Mag and he loves it,very accurate and has held up well over the years.The Black Shadow is a very good rifle though I think worth the extra money.

    I might be mistaken but I thought I saw the 111 with the cheapo scope and sling for about $370 on the auctions. I might be wrong, I just saw a good price and was wondering of the quality.

    I dont know about the 111 my friends is the 114 Ultra and it is a fine shooter.I dont imagine the quality of the 111 would be any different.Do a auction search on those Black Shadows that $399.00 is new you might can find a good used for alot less.

    Another rifle you could take a look at is the Remington 7600 its a pump action rifle available in .243,.270wim,30/06 and .308win with dual action bars and a 4 shot mag.Not a bolt action but will kill anything you would hunt and the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope.It is right in your price range and more reliable than the semi-auto 7400 model I think a little more accurate too but that may not have warrant I just dont feel semi-autos are as accurate.Personal bias.The 7600 is a good Rifle.

    Savage has really Improved to a fine Rifle maker,and they shoot well and are attractive firearms.I would recommend it to anyone.

    There are many different models of Savage 111's. Do some homework.

    The one that I had in mine was the 111FCXP3. It comes with the synthetic stock and the cheapo scope. Just trying to find out some info about it.

    You should be able to buy a new 111 in your hand for under 400.00. That includes everything. Of coarce thats Kalifornia.

    All my Savages, 110 111 & 112 are great shooters, I still think the 112Bvss Is the best.
