Shooting 357 Sig from a Glock 22 40 caliber
I have heard that its ok to buy a replacement barrel in 357 Sig for a Glock 22 and fire the sig round safely, but then I was told that only the new style Glock 22's with the finger groove frame and acc rails could safely handle the 357 Sig pressures. Is it ok to convert an older Glock 22 to fire 357 Sig with a barrel swap?
Thanks

I do know that several years ago, Glock tried a conversion barrel to convert the G22 to .357 Sig, and the pressures involved wrecked the frame after relatively few rounds. The Glock .357's now supposedly have a somewhat beefed-up frame to take the added pressure.
I'd advise against converting an older G22 to .357 Sig. I'm not an expert, but this info was passed on to me by my local Glock LE dealer, so I'll tend to give it some credence.0 -
I added a ported, Korean-made import stainless 357SIG barrel to my 22C which, from your description, I believe to be of the newer, "beefed-up" frame design. Only problem was the point-of-impact at 7 yards was about two feet low & a foot left of where the stock barrel would place 'em. I can't blame the Glock, but I DID add a set of Millet target sights front & rear to accommodate. A good 'smith probably could tweak the stainless to a better fit. Bought a Bar Sto 357SIG barrel for my HK 40 USP, what they call their semi drop-in model, was pleased to see that stock & retrofit barrels both impact pretty much the same. I advise you to call Glock and find out all the details of making such a switch.Im certain you will have to switch your recoil s[ring first. But call Glock and see what they say.

I have a 3rd generation Glock 32. I purchased and after marker .40 match barrel for it. I shoot both 357 sig and .40 just by switching the barrels. After 500+ rounds of both I have found no problems at all. I do not know why it would not work for the Glocks big brother the 31 and 22. My 2 cents 0 -
Easy problem to solve, my man; go to the next gun show in your area and swap that ugly thing for a pretty, new Sig Pro 2340 with both barrels! It'll cost about the same as your "upgrade" and all you have to do to switch calibers is poke the pin in on the right side, slide the slide/barrel off, replace the barrel, reverse assemble, change to your previously-loaded death-ray (357 SIG)magazine, and you're all set! Takes me about 45 seconds. Comes with 2 sets of grips, too! There's the rubber smooth grip and the pebbly plastic grip to choose from.
Just remember to use a barrel that fully supports the case around the head and you'll be able to reload 'em!

Thanks everyone for the info!

I put a Fire Dragon ported 357 SIG barrel in my 10 year old Glock 22 and have shot it without problems. I did use their recoil spring system with it. I did this when the 357 SIG round came out and before Glock was even producing a gun in the caliber. 0 -
im with gunnut get rid of that glock and buy a sig, swap barrels no problem
