What year is my Colt 45 Govt. model?

I have a Colt 45 model 1911 that I was told is a bring back. The ser. # is C160xxx. How do I find out what year this gun was made and if it was an Army issue?

  The letter "C" denotes a Commercial version, not a US Army version. Yours was made somewhere 1925 to 1942. The serial number range for Pre-War Colts in the Commercial version are from C138,533-C215,000. Value in my book says from $2000 in 100% condition to $475 in 60% condition. Add 20% if it has the original box and manual.

  1911 Colt .45 Caliber Commercial Model, Serial Number C160xxx Manufactured in 1931..Serial Numbers for the 1931 production run began with serial Number C159000 and Ended with C161999 for the years production run.......Best....
