steel cases
There seems to be a lot of Russian etc. ammo out there that have steel cases. 223, 380,45 etc. Will these steel cases wear on the firearm more than, say brass?

I'd say your pretty safe shooting them in a military or paramilitary type rifle. Actually I've probably shot two thousand rounds thru my 1911 without any problems. I wont shoot it through my $1200 .223rem tack driver, but she only like's match ammo anyway. I've heard a few people say they won't shoot it cause it causes wear in there guns but the fact of the matter is anytime you shoot your causing wear to your gun, but thats what it was designed to do. I wouldn't say it causes anymore wear than anything else, its just dirtier, and the powder they use smells bad after discharge.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Binder,I believe there were a simuliar question on here before asking basically the same thing.I believe we came to the conclusion that they might be harder on your barrel with extended use, just keep your Bore and barrel clean. Also your barrel may heat up a little quicker as well.Hope this helps!
Best!!

From first hand experience, the lacquer on the cases world build up and the slide would bind up. 45acp. Colt pattern.
