They are great machines and the fact they drop the bullets out the bottom is wonderful.
    Want to sell it??

The Star lubra sizer is by far the greatest. Dies are of a bastard
thread though. Star went out of bussiness and all rights and parts
for the luber and reloading press were purchased by a outfit in Texas, I believe, who still make the same machines and parts. possibly two different outfits (?). I used to have the addresses, but
no longer. You should use solid stick lube, not cored lube due to possible air pockets. If you use a heater, Bear Lube (if it is still made) from Texas, the long dark blue solid stick heated (120 degres)
worked best for me for .38 and .45 lubing. It should lube about 20
slugs before tightening the lube handle again. Very good purchase.

As I remember, (sometimes not too well) you cannot seat gas checks with the Star as it ejects out the bottom.other than that it's a excellent fast machine.

Magma Engineering handles the product now. If you want to do high volume pistol bullets, this is the way to go!! Although small, IME, Magma has a level of customer service up there w/ RCBS & Dillon.

The comments by others above on the design & use of the tool match my own experiences.

Thanks for the information. The owners manual says you can seat gas checks but you have to put a piece of flat metal on top of the sizing die, place a bullet and gas check on the flat metal, seat the gas check, remove the metal plate and size the bullet as normal. If anyone needs a copy of my literature let me know.

72, the whole idea of using the Star is high speed, high capacity. If I were going to use gas checked bullets (and I often do), the Lyman & RCBS products do both operations at once without adding / removing extra parts. JMO, but the Star shines at pushing through a bunch of plain base bullets in jig time and for most handgun applications, the gas check is simply an unnecessary extra cost.
