Winchester Garand barrel question
I asked this question on the general discussion forum but thought I'd throw it out here as well. Does anyone know of a Winchester military barrel manufactured for the M1 dated in mid 1967. It is not one of the "Navy Special" barrels manufactured in 1966 and 1967 in 7.62 NATO. Those were all made at the Springfield Armoury....the rifle the barrel is on appears correct for its mid war manufacture with the exception of that late late barrel. Any ideas? Beach

Hi all--According to information in Scott Duff's books, Winchester made replacement barrells in 1967. These are not original to any rifle. 0 -
Skipvan, Thank you for the information. Do you know if those 67 barrels were commercial barrels or under a military contract? Many thanks, Beach 0 -
Replacement barrels made on a government contract by Winchester for the M1 in the 1960's are always stamped with the stylized "Winchester" found on all their commercial guns. These barrels are pretty common.
WWII barrels made by them are stamped with the intertwined "WP" on the right side of the barrel. In good condition, these barrels easily sell for $500.
